SHAKIRA and Pique’s bombshell split after 12 years has resulted in a dramatic divorce with complex negotiations, a lawyer has revealed.
The once-golden couple announced their separation back in June amid rumours the ex-Barca star had cheated on her.
Following their shocking split, the Colombian singer and the footie ace were embroiled in a bitter row over the custody of their children and their £12m mansion.
The former pair appeared in court in December after reaching a custody settlement for their sons Milan, 10, and Sasha, 7, following a 12-hour marathon meeting with lawyers.
Speaking to La Vanguardia, Pique’s family lawyer, Ramón Tamborero has praised the behaviour of the former couple throughout the process.
He said: “Both have shown great intelligence. They have made a great effort for the good of their children, so they were not the protagonists.”

He added: “The agreement was complex and required preparatory meetings.
“And the decisive meeting before signing lasted thirteen hours.”
The lawyer explained the entire process “has required a seven-month negotiation.”
He noted that even though the financial element was important in the case, money was never the issue between the pair.

The former couple eventually agreed Shakira would move to Miami with her sons with Pique being allowed to visit them for ten days a month.
The ex-couple also agreed to sell their five-storey Barcelona property.
The agreement was beneficial to both parties, Tamborero added, who appreciated the collaboration of the families for not taking the case to a court hearing.
Despite reaching an agreement for the sake of their children, the pair seems that it has found a different way to roast each other.
Shakira has targeted her ex and his new girlfriend Clara Chia Marti, in her latest hit Shakira Bzrp Music Sessions 53, singing “I’m worth two 22-year-olds. You traded in a Ferrari for a Twingo, you traded in a Rolex for a Casio.”
In response, Pique turned up to work in an £8,000 Renault Twingo and boasted his new seven-a-side project the King’s League had landed a sponsorship deal with Casio.
But the singer didn’t stop there as she put up a creepy life-size witch doll on her balcony in Barcelona that overlooks her ex-mother-in-law’s home and has refused to take it down.
She has also allegedly forbidden her sons to call Gerard’s mum Montserrat Bernabéu, grandma due to her support of her son’s new lover.
