Hugo Lloris hooked at half-time 5-0 down after Tottenham embarrassment as fans joke ‘he’s come off with an injured soul’

HUGO LLORIS was hooked at half-time as Tottenham trailed Newcastle 5-0 at the break.

Fraser Forster replaced the Spurs captain as interim boss Christian Stellini looked to stem the flow of goals.

Stellini also hooked Pape Sarr after just 23 minutes following Newcastle’s fifth goal, with Davinson Sanchez coming on in his place.

The changes had the desired effect as Spurs stopped the rot and grabbed a goal of their own shortly after half-time.

Fans joked at Lloris’ expense and one claimed he may have played his last minutes for the club.

One supporter quipped: “His back was hurting from picking the ball out the net.”

Another added: “Premier League career done!”

A third said: “Lloris should just retire!”

Another commented: “Lloris has had to come off with an injured soul.”

Lloris has made several mistakes this season, including one in the North London derby against Arsenal in January.

A few weeks earlier he handed Aston Villa a goal after he fumbled Douglas Luiz’s long-range strike for Emi Buendia to tap in.

After the match a downbeat Lloris admitted his side’s performance was “embarrassing”.

He said: “It’s very embarrassing. We should apologise to the fans that travelled and to the fans who watched the ga,e.

“We didn’t show a great face today. We could not match the performance of the Newcastle players.

“We completely missed the first part of the game, the second half is a different story but it’s really painful today.

“We could not fight, we were late in all the aspects of the game and Newcastle had a great performance, they were very aggressive.

“It’s difficult right now to asses and analyse the performance but the first thing is that there was a lack of pride.

“It was strange, we could not even react, we could not even bounce back into the game. But Newcastle deserve a lotof credit, they were very dynamic and knew just what to do with and without the ball.”
