Historic photo of Jordan Henderson ‘REMOVED from Liverpool training ground’ after Saudi transfer

A HISTORIC photo of Jordan Henderson has been removed from Liverpool’s training ground following his move to Saudi Arabia.

The 33-year-old ex-skipper controversially jumped ship for the riches of the Middle East in July following a 12-year Anfield spell.

Henderson penned a deal with Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq despite criticism over Saudi Arabian laws criminalising same-sex partnerships.

He was still called up by Gareth Southgate to the latest England squad and claimed he joined Al-Ettifaq after falling out of favour at Liverpool.

The Reds appear to be moving on after removing a photo of Henderson from their training base showing the midfielder lifting the 2019/20 Premier League title.

Henderson featured 30 times that season and captained the side as the Reds stormed to top spot.

The Liverpool Echo claims a large print-out of that memory has now been taken down at the club’s training ground.

In its place is a picture of new vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold winning the Champions League in 2019.

And the decision to swap snaps apparently shows that Liverpool are keen to move forwards into a new era under Jurgen Klopp.

The German signed no less than FOUR central midfielders this summer.

Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szbozslai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch all arrived at Anfield this summer.

They have settled into life well, with Liverpool second in the table after five wins in six games.

As for Henderson, he’s already played six times for his new side.

Al-Ettifaq are fourth in the Saudi Pro League with five wins from seven.

But they face a tough trip to Al-Ahli tomorrow, coming up against stars like Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino and Allan Saint-Maximin.
