He allegedly rejected offers to take charge of Lyon and Leicester in the wake of his dismissal.

And according to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, the former Brighton boss has now declined the chance to become head coach of the Sweden national team.

Last month the Swedish FA confirmed that head coach Janne Andersson would be stepping down from his position.

He took charge of his final game on Sunday when Sweden clinched a 2-0 win over Estonia.

Potter was initially a top candidate for the job, but he instead indicated that he would prefer a return to club management.

In the earlier stages of his career, Potter enjoyed a successful spell in charge of Swedish side Ostersunds.

He led the club to three promotions in five years.

The Solihull-born manager also won the Swedish Cup before leaving in 2018 to join Swansea.
