GARY NEVILLE has backtracked on his claim Manchester United will finish above Arsenal this season.
The Gunners have won four on the bounce and are now 14 points ahead of United, having played two more games.
But Neville now believes they cannot be caught by Erik ten Hag’s side, despite stating the opposite earlier this week.
Speaking ahead of United’s trip to Liverpool, Neville told Sky Sports: “There might be a couple in that dressing room that might think let’s hang in there let’s see if anyone slips up.
“I don’t think they will do it this season I think they’re too far off Arsenal and City.”
Fans have been quick to call out the pundit after he predicted United to finish second, above Arsenal.

And a third said: “Backtracking now after claiming United would finish above Arsenal 🤣🤣.”
Earlier this week Neville was confident United would finish above Arsenal, suggesting Mikel Arteta’s side could drop to third if their title challenge fades before the final few games.

He said on The Overlap: “That’s my inkling earlier in the season, what normally happens is one team gets so close they realise they can’t win it and then they just go like that in the last two or three games.
“You lose two games and then all of a sudden someone else goes above you. I thought City would win the league and United would finish second two or three months ago.
“To be fair, I’m not going to change my mind on it. I still think City are going to win the league even though Arsenal, the closer it gets… but 14 games is still a long way to go. I still think United will finish second.”
