Furious Thomas Tuchel ‘snaps slalom pole over his knee in frustration’ during training with Bayern Munich in crisis


BAYERN MUNICH manager Thomas Tuchel appeared enraged during training as he snapped a slalom pole over his knee.

Tuchel returned to management in March and took over at Bayern, just six months after his shock dismissal from Chelsea.

The German tactician replaced Julian Nagelsmann, who appears to be the frontrunner to take over at Tottenham after his controversial departure from the Allianz Arena.

The 49-year-old has struggled to turn the reigning German champions’ fortunes around as he has lost three of his seven matches in charge and only won twice along the way.

The ex-Paris Saint-Germain boss also saw the Bavarians getting knocked out of the German Cup to Freiburg as well as the Champions League to Manchester City.

Bayern are currently second in the Bundesliga table with Tuchel’s former club Borussia Dortmund ahead by one point.

And frustrations appeared to reach boiling point during the team’s last training session before Sunday’s league clash with Hertha Berlin in Munich.

According to Goal, Tuchel was very disappointed with how the players “presented themselves” when they participated on the diamond small field.

The ex-Dortmund boss tried to fix the attacking patterns and player movement on several occasions but his efforts didn’t work.

Then, out of “sheer frustration”, Tuchel appeared to break a slalom pole with his knee while his assistants watched on.

This comes after Bayern lost 3-1 at Mainz on Saturday, putting the club’s title charge in doubt.

And Tuchel didn’t hold back as he lashed out at his side in frustration just minutes after the final whistle.

He said: “We seem exhausted. We look like a team that has already played 80 games this season.

“We are not able to play football without making mistakes. The games and the points go away and run through our hands like sand.”

The Bayern board is reportedly set to meet next month to discuss the futures of Tuchel, CEO Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic amid the club’s recent troubles.
