FORMER Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich once sold camcorders and TVs to team-mates as a way of making money.
The Australian joined the Red Devils at the age of 17 in 1989, but only on a non-contract basis as he didn’t have a work permit.
It meant that he wasn’t initially paid by the club, so he had to find an alternative way to make ends meet.
And according to his former team-mate Lee Sharpe, Bosnich earned an income by selling devices after getting involved with a group of “gangsters” in Salford.
Speaking on the Under The Cosh podcast, Sharpe said: “Mark Bosnich was in our digs [temporary accommodation] because he came from Australia. He couldn’t get a work permit so he was on expenses as like a trialist.
“What a character Bozzy was. [He] got in with all the gangsters in Salford, and I went in his room one night and he just had boxes of camcorders and tellies and I’m like, ‘What are you doing?’.

“He’s like, ‘I’m on expenses I’ve got to earn some money somehow so I’m going to knock these out to the lads.'”
Bosnich made just three appearances for the Red Devils before his registration was cancelled in 1991.
He then joined Sydney United and spent a season back in Australia before returning to England to pen a one-year deal with Aston Villa.
Following the expiration of his contract at Villa Park, Man Utd re-signed the goalkeeper.

He made 38 appearances in total for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side and became the only player that the legendary manager signed twice.
However, his career took a turn in 2002 when he failed a drugs test and was subsequently sacked by Chelsea and suspended from football for nine months.
