And although the transfer has yet to be completed, Fenerbahce team-mate Fred revealed he has wished the stopper “good luck” at United.

Bayindir is understood to be in Manchester following a medical as he finalises a deal costing the Red Devils around £4.3million.

And Fred said: “I wished Altay good luck when he left. He is going to join a great team.

“Altay will be very happy at Manchester United.”

Brazil star Fred, 30, joined Turkish giants Fenerbahce this month after five years at Old Trafford.

And Bayindir, 25, is moving the opposite way, having joined Fenerbahce from Ankaragücü in 2019.

He appeared to wave goodbye to fans on Thursday after being an unused sub as Fenerbahce beat Twente 5-1 in the Europa Conference League.

United need a new back-up keeper as Henderson is closing on a switch to Palace for £15m plus £5m add-ons.
