A FORMER England footballer reassured his fans he is “alive and well” in response to a hilarious video.
But even the lanky funnyman at the butt of the joke is running out of patience with the “gag that comes out twice a year”.
Peter Crouch was the subject of cheeky trolling once again.
The famous video of groundstaff at a football stadium carrying a massive bag off the field did the rounds on social media – bearing a resemblance to a long, thin body bag, perfect for 6ft 7in Crouch.
And that prompted the caption: “RIP Peter Crouch.”
A similar joke has been made with photos of pitch apparatus such as collapsed warm-up goals and nets as well as rolled-up banners.

The Out Of Context Football Twitter account shared the video on Friday.
And a fed-up Crouchy, 42, retweeted the clip and took a little dig at the repetitive banter – more than 20 years after the abuse he got when he first broke into football.
The former Three Lions ace wrote: “I’m alive and well and this gag comes out twice a year,” followed by the ‘unamused’ emoji.
But fans piled into the replies with various witty comebacks.

One said: “That’s only his leg. Where is the body?”
Another wrote: “You got to admit Crouchy it’s a bit funny tho.”
A third added: “Good – have to say I was a little worried at one stage.”
And a final user commented: “Happy you’re still going strong Pete. Still a funny joke though.”
Another referenced the chant Liverpool fans used for Crouch during his three years at Anfield, which went: “He’s big, he’s red, his feet stick out the bed, Peter Crouch.”
Crouch has enjoyed a fine summer during the off-season with his model wife Abbey Clancy before he links up with TNT Sports in 2023-24.
That included trips to Ascot, Glastonbury and Portugal, where he bumped into Harry Maguire.
