BRUNO LAGE has been sacked by Botafogo after less than three months in charge.
The former Wolves manager returned to work in July for the Brazilian giants.
Lage, 47, went unbeaten in his first ten games in charge of Botafogo in all competitions.
But a run of five games without a win has seen him lose his job.
A club statement read: “Botafogo highlights Bruno Lage’s professionalism, character, and commitment during the period in which he defended the black and white shirt and was part of the family.
“Despite the coach’s start, with 10 unbeaten games, the latest results were not as expected.

“The Club would like to thank Bruno and his entire technical committee for the services provided to Glorioso over the last few months, wishing him much success in his future challenges.”
Botafogo are owned by American John Textor, who also possesses shares in Crystal Palace and Lyon.
Despite their poor run of form, Botafogo remain seven points clear at the top of the Brazilian top flight.
But their recent sticky patch saw them eliminated from the Copa Sudamericana at the quarter-final stage.

Lage took charge of Wolves in 2021 having previously managed Benfica in his native Portugal.
He guided them to a tenth place finish in his first season, before a poor start to last term cost him his job.
In total he won 19 of his 51 matches in charge of the Molineux club, drawing ten and losing 22.
Lage managed just four wins in 15 matches at the Botafogo helm, drawing seven games and losing four.
He had succeeded Luis Castro as boss, after the 62-year-old left to take charge of Cristiano Ronaldo and Co at Al-Nassr.
