Fans left baffled as HULL CITY is revealed as most watched team in US state… and there is good reason why


FOOTBALL fans have been left baffled after Hull City were named as the most watched team in the US state of Alabama.

While the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool dominated in many states across the Pond, Alabama natives seemingly can’t get enough of Hull.

Liam Rosenior’s mid-table Championship side were the most watched team in the state in 2022, according to Barstool Football, via Sports Reference.

A graphic of the USA, divided into states, showed the most watched team from each of the respective areas last year.

While the people of California love Chelsea, Florida is Liverpool and Manchester United are biggest in Massachusetts, it’s Hull who come out on top in Alabama.

However, there is a good reason as to why.

The 2014 FA Cup runners up are nicknamed the Tigers.

The American football team for Auburn University in Alabama are called Auburn Tigers so there is a connection there.

And the American football team for the University of West Alabama is named The West Alabama Tigers.

However, fans on social media were still left baffled after seeing the map.

One wrote: “Why are Hull massive in Alabama?”

Another joked: “Hull City being the top team in Alabama is hilarious.”

And a third quipped: “If there is more than one hull fan in Alabama I’d be amazed.”

Meanwhile, Hull fans revelled in their popularity.

One wrote: “Alabama tigers. We are massive!”

And another added: “Up the tigers.”

Rosenior’s side are currently 16th in the Championship, having last played in the Premier League in 2015.
