FOOTBALL fans joked Jurgen Klopp had forgotten why he recalled Jordan Henderson and Fabinho before their 2-0 win over Everton on Monday night.
The German boss, 55, made two changes for Monday night’s clash at Anfield following a dismal 3-0 defeat to Wolves last weekend.
And it was in the midfield that the alterations took place as Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita dropped out for Henderson and Fabinho.
Thiago’s absence was confirmed in the build-up as he is set to be sidelined for some time with a hip injury.
But Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville was still intrigued about why Klopp had made the double change – a question that also appeared to stump the Liverpool manager.
Neville asked: “Jurgen, you’ve made two changes to your team tonight, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho come back in. Is that because of their experience and it being a Merseyside derby?”

Apparently flustered by the question, Klopp took a moment to think about his response, before he eventually replied: “Was that a part of the decision? I’m not sure”.
Neville then presses further in a jovial manner, adding: “Why did you pick them then?”
And the enquiry received a chuckle from Klopp as fans poked fun at the interaction on social media.
One person said: “Bro forgot ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ”.

Another added: “Jurgen’s likeโฆ ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ค๐ ”.
And a third responded: “๐๐ Klopp is too funny”.
Despite initial confusion, Klopp did end up elaborating on why he had brought the two midfielders back in for the game.
He went on to say: “We had a long training week, we had seven sessions. It’s long and everybody could show up and they showed up.
“Fabinho had a really good training week. We all know it is not his best season so far but in training he looked really, really good, so that was clear that we bring him.
“And with Hendo he is always close to get into the team.
“Obviously the Thiago situation is not cool for us, he will be out for a while with a hip problem. So we had to make one decision at least and we made two.”
It ended up working out for Klopp as his dominant midfield controlled Everton all evening.
And the victory over their Merseyside rivals moves them up to ninth in the table, but still 10 points adrift of the top four.
