City were were charged in February over a series of alleged financial dodges between 2008 and 2019.

The Treble winners are challenging their 115 charges, though, and even suggested in May that the KC running the case could be biased because he is an Arsenal fan.

If they are found guilty, a financial expert has warned they could be RELEGATED from the Premier League.

The former adviser to Man City points out that the charges against the reigning Premier League champions are much more serious than those Everton have been found guilty of.

Everton’s points deduction has seen the club drop into the relegation zone, with Sean Dyche’s side only off the bottom on goal difference.

However, City could be hit with an even bigger penalty if they are also found guilty of breaching Premier League rules.

Following the news of Everton’s punishment, some rival fans even claimed City would end up being forced out of the Football League.

One supporter wrote: “If Everton have been docked 10 points, Man City should be playing in the National League by the time their case is heard!”

Another added: “The Premier League have a chance to do the funniest thing in history and dish out an immediate 1150 points deduction.”

A third fan reacted by commenting: “City must get triple that.”

Everton points deduction

EVERTON have become the first Premier League team to be deducted points for breaching Financial Fair Play regulations for profit and sustainability.

The Toffees’ ten-point hit comes after an independent Commission determined Everton recorded losses of £124.5million as per Premier League regulation calculations over the three years up to 2021-22 – exceeding the permitted £105m limit.

The Goodison Park club have posted financial deficits for five years in a row.

Manchester City are fighting 115 charges of FFP breaches put forward by the Premier League last season.

Only two clubs in Premier League history have been docked points.

Middlesbrough saw three points deducted in 1996-97 for failing to fulfil a fixture against Blackburn.

In March 2010, Portsmouth had nine points stripped for entering administration.

Both Middlesbrough and Portsmouth were relegated following their respective points punishments.

The ten-point deduction drops Everton to 19th in the Premier League table, level on four points with bottom-club Burnley.

Meanwhile, one more said: “By that logic, Man City should be relegated to League Two.”

Everton’s sanction has taken place with immediate effect, with the Toffees dropping five places to 19th in the table.

They are the first Premier League team to be hit with a points deduction for breaching FFP rules.

The club have been punished for breaching profit and sustainability rules after recording financial losses of £44.7m for the 2021-22 season – bringing their three-year total to £124.5m

That exceeds the Premier League threshold, which permits a maximum loss of £105m across three years, by £19.5m.

Three clubs are already said to be planning legal action against the Toffees.

Leicester, Burnley and Leeds have been on the wrong end of relegation battles with Everton over the past two years.

And according to The Mail, they could seek as much as £300MILLION in damages – with each club estimating they lost around £100m from being relegated to the Championship.

Everton will be in the relegation mix again this season after today’s punishment.

However, a supercomputer has predicted the Toffees will SURVIVE.
