SERGIO REGUILON has claimed that every football player wants to play for Manchester United – but it’s safe to say that many fans disagree.
The Spaniard joined the Red Devils this summer from Tottenham on a season-long loan following an injury crisis at Old Trafford.
And when asked by the official United website why he joined the club, he made his admiration for the historic outfit clear.
The 26-year-old said: “This question is too easy. Tell me one player that doesn’t want to play for Manchester United. It was an easy decision for me.”
But despite Reguilon’s love for the Manchester giants, fans have been quick to call him out on his statement.
Taking his rhetorical question rather literally many supporters took to social media to reel off lists of players who have rejected United in recent years.

One fan wrote: “I’ll name you 11 off the top of my head pal: [Erling] Haaland, Neymar, Frenkie De Jong, Bernardo Silva, [Thomas] Muller, [Eduardo] Camavinga, Pedro, [Sadio] Mane, [Cody] Gakpo, Fabinho and [Antoine] Griezmann.”
Another joked: “Everyone is looking at Frenkie de Jong.”
De Jong has been linked with a move to Man United from Barcelona since last summer, but reports emerged that the Dutchman wasn’t keen on the switch.
Other fans pointed towards Jude Bellingham, with one posting a video of a fan asking the Real Madrid star to join the Red Devils.

In the clip Bellingham appears to laugh at the suggestion and seems to say: “Don’t be silly.”
Some supporters even suggested that Reguilon himself had previously turned down the chance to sign for United in favour of a move to Spurs in 2020.
One posted: “Didn’t we try signing him before Spurs when he picked them over us??”
While a second added: “I could be wrong but didn’t United try and sign him a few years ago but he chose Spurs?”
Another chimed in saying: “What was in his mind some years ago? He chose Spurs instead of United if the rumours at that time were true.”
