EX-HOLLAND forward Bas Dost collapsed on a football pitch in a terrifying incident in the Eredivisie.
The NEC Nijmegen ace fell to the floor in the centre circle in the closing stages of their match against AZ Alkmaar on Sunday.
Paramedics rushed to the scene to administer treatment.
Fortunately his club have already confirmed the 34-year-old is conscious and moving.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, they said: “Bas Dost is conscious and is taken off the field. The match has been stopped.”
The match has been abandoned until further notice following the stoppage.
Distressed players formed a circle around Dost to cover him.
Dutch football page Football Oranje have reported the player raised his arms above his head and was carried off on a stretcher.
They report NEC director Wilco van Schaik as saying: “Bas is on the way and in good hands.”
Dost is said to have received a standing ovation from the crowd as he was taken off the pitch.
