All eyes on you – Arsenal…
It’s a huge day in the title race today, and after Manchester City got the win against Everton in this game our attention now turns to Arsenal who face off against Brighton at The Emirates.
This is how the title race looks right now, before that game kicks off:
- Manchester City – P-35, GD-61, PTS 85
- Arsenal – P35, GD-44, PTS 81
A win for Arsenal would see them again just one point behind Manchester City, so they will be hoping that City slip up at some point over the next three games.
Here is a reminder of the run in for both sides:
That is all from us on this one, but keep up to date with how Arsenal are getting on with our live blog of their game against Brighton here.
Full-time stats
This is how the match stats look at full-time, after we saw Manchester City dispatch Everton away from home.
It was a dominant performance by the visitors in the end, after a tough first half an hour, and that was reflected in the scoreline…
Man of the match:
The prestigious SunSport man of the match award today could only really go to one man.
Ilkay Gundogan was sensational for the Cityzens, just as he was against Leeds United last weekend, and has been for most of this season.
His first goal is worthy of being hung in “The Loov” as fellow goalscorer Erling Haaland would say, it consisted of a gorgeous first touch and a no-look finish that most number 9’s would struggle to score.
He then set up Haaland in a flash double for City that put the game out of Everton’s control, before stroking home a free-kick.
It was a brace that was better to watch than most hat-tricks, and Silky Ilkay has cemented his time as a Premier League all-timer this season.
What a player.
FT. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Full-time here at Goodison Park, and what a game we saw.
Manchester City extend their Premier League winning run to eleven games, and Erling Haaland scored yet again to make it 36 Premier League goals this season.
One step closer to another league title for Manchester City.
90+2. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Ruben Dias is being replaced now by Sergio Gomez.
It’s the rest of the day off for the Portuguese centre-half on his 26th birthday.
90. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
There will be four additional minutes at the end of this one.
88. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Kalvin Phillips is on in replacement of Rodri for the visitors.
He is yet to set the world alight in a sky blue shirt, but like many players his time will come…
86. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Everton hook the ball into the middle towards Tarkowski, and look to be applying some pressure late on in this one.
They just don’t seem to be able to put the ball in the back of the net, which is probably a large reason of why they are where they are in the league table.
84. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Rodri drives through the Everton midfield, but his pass is poor and too far ahead of Jack Grealish.
82. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Special mention to the Manchester City faithful here at Goodison Park, singing my favourite chant of the season.
It’s their rendition of Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac – “Awooooo, I’ll follow you everywhere!”
80. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
You have to feel for the Everton defence.
Seeing Haaland and Gundogan leave the pitch would bring you a sigh of relief, but then on come Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva.
Nightmare.
77. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Here is the Manchester City change, it is a double change at that.
Bernardo Silva comes on for Ilkay Gundogan and Jack Grealish comes on for Erling Haaland.
77. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Another change for Everton, as Demarai Gray comes on in replacement of James Garner.
Manchester City are lining up a change too…
75. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Mahrez gets away down the right hand side, and crosses the ball towards Erling Haaland who looks destined to score.
Pickford then clatters into Haaland, and the England number one has maybe got away with one there.
73. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Dwight McNeil gives away a foul on Riyad Mahrez this time, which just eases the pressure for Manchester City, who will want to keep a clean sheet here.
70. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Everton have got some encouragement from Manchester City taking it somewhat easy the past few minutes or so.
Akanji and Maupay go shoulder to shoulder, and the Frenchman is fuming that he hasn’t got a free-kick out of that.
67. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Everton hit the bar!
The corner is cleared by Ederson, though not convincingly and Everton will have another corner.
This one is far more threatening and Tarkowski heads it onto the crossbar after a touch from the Brazilian goalkeeper.
66. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
McNeil lines up a shot from distance, but it is blocked by Ruben Dias for another Everton corner…
64. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Could we see a few Manchester City changes coming in the coming moments?
Erling Haaland and Ilkay Gundogan would be the obvious players that Pep would want to rest for the huge Real Madrid clash on Wednesday.
62. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Doucoure does well initially to put the pressure on the Manchester City defence, but eventually fouls Manuel Akanji.
60. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Onana and Iwobi combine well on the left hand side, and win a corner for The Toffees.
The subs seem to have livened the game up a bit.
The corner causes some panic for Ederson, but City are eventually able to clear.
58. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Everton have shifted to a back five now it seems, and it might be a matter of damage limitation for them now.
Goal difference could be vital for them this season in terms of staying in the Premier League.
54. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Double substitution for Everton.
Idrissa Gueye and Mason Holgate are swapped for Amadou Onana and Conor Coady.
52. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Another free-kick for Manchester City here on the edge of the box, this time Riyad Mahrez strikes it against the wall and it will be a Manchester City corner.
50. GOAL! Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Ilkay Gundogan scores from the free-kick!
Him and Mahrez are stood over the ball, but it is the German who whips the ball over the wall and it floats into the back of the net.
That is four goals in two games for Gundogan.
Incredible.
