26 seconds to go (and take a corner)
Much has been made of the 26 seconds that Arsenal took to take the corner that produced their winning goal.
Seen as clever play by many, waiting for the right moment to unlock an otherwise robust Everton defence, questions have arisen around the amount of stoppage time added on by the officials at 90 minutes.
Those queries appear particularly poignant given Paul Heckingbottom’s complaints yesterday that the referee told his Sheffield United players that they would have to play a goalkick long rather than taking longer to draw out the opposition.
Toffees left in sticky situation
Everton’s tally of one point is their joint-worst return from the opening 5 games of a Premier League season along with 1994-95 – although they went on to finish 15th in that campaign.
The Toffees have also lost each of their first three home league games for only the fourth time in their history – and it is only the second time they have done it without scoring.

Trossard happy to help
Leandro Trossard revealed he was delighted to play an important from the bench this afternoon with an impact that highlights the Gunners’ strength in depth.
The Belgian was a 24th minute substitute for the injured Gabriel Martinelli, but put the disappointment of starting on the bench behind him to net the only goal of the game by finishing off an excellent move from a corner.
It’s always nice to help your team and especially if you can score the winning goal. It was a great action, I called to Bukayo Saka and he saw me with a perfect lay-off and I had to hit it straight with my left. It goes in perfectly. I’m very happy.

Keeping it clean on the road
Another Arsenal away win, and another clean sheet on the road.
It means that the Gunners have now kept out their hosts in 12 of their 21 away games since the start of last season.
And today they did it with a new goalkeeper to boot.

Arsenal fans were cursing their luck when Gabriel Martinelli went off injured in the first half, shortly after having a goal disallowed for offside.
But his replacement Leandro Trossard took his chance to shine, scoring a sumptuous winner in the second half.
It means that an Gunners substitute has scored in each of the last three Premier League games, the first time that the Londoners have done that since December 2021.
No wonder Mikel Arteta looks so delighted.

The final whistle goes and there are barely enough Everton supporters left in the ground to signal their latest disappointment.
Instead it is the travelling Arsenal fans that can be heard celebrating, and they’re soon joined in that corner of Goodison Park by their players to acknowledge three hard fought points.
The only goal of the game was scored brilliantly by Leandro Trossard midway through the second half, and from that point onwards the result was never in doubt.
The Gunners leave the blue half of Merseyside with a win for the first time since the days of Arsene Wenger, and move level on points with Tottenham ahead of next week’s North London derby.
For Everton, however, it’s another defeat and leaves them with just a solitary point from the opening five games. Tough times.

Another Arsenal corner played short appeared to have fizzled out, but the visitors kept the ball moving and eventually Bukayo Saka was played into the byline.
The England star kept his cool and dragged it back for Leandro Trossard, who met the pass perfectly first time to powerfully sidefoot across goal and in off the far post.
