David Beckham signs big money deal to advertise high-end drinks brand 


DAVID Beckham has signed a big money deal to advertise Nespresso — despite admitting his coffee-drinking habits make him sound like “a right kb”.

The former England football captain was unveiled as the brand’s latest celebrity brand partner yesterday.

He joins Hollywood actor George Clooney, 62, on Nespresso’s books.

But earlier this year, he confessed he had a bizarre coffee habit when asked about his daily routine.

Becks, 48, told his pal and former Man United teammate Gary Neville in a YouTube chat: “The weird thing is — and I’m going to sound like a right k**b now — in London I have just black coffee, but in the countryside, I have a latte.”

Becks, who with wife Posh Spice is said to be worth £425million, already had a raft of mega-bucks brand deals.

The superstar advertises Maserati and expensive watch brand Tudor.

And he is still the face of Adidas and has previously had multi-million-pound deals with Pepsi, Gillette, Sainsbury’s and Jaguar.

As well as film idol Clooney, Nespresso has also used movie stars Matt Damon, Julia Garner, Simone Ashley and Jean Dujardin.

Becks gushed: “I’ve always loved Nespresso coffee.

“Whether I am having a quiet moment at home with my family or preparing myself for a business meeting, the variety of blends is great, it’s so simple to make and every cup tastes incredible.”

Grounds hog day

A TYPICAL coffee drinker will down almost 18,000 litres of the stuff in their lifetime, a survey suggests.

On average, they say they have three cups a day, which works out at 62,000 over the years.

The most popular time for the first brew was found to be 7am.

And four in ten coffee drinkers struggled to function properly until they had their first caffeine kick, the survey for appliance maker Breville showed.

But the same proportion have ordered the same coffee for years.
