Hodgson, 75, has inspired Palace to three consecutive wins, propelling the South Londoners away from the relegation zone.

In the meantime, the Eagles are succession planning for the veteran’s successor next season.

According to Austrian outlet Kurier, Palace are on the cusp of appointing Hutter as their new boss.

The 53-year-old has been out of work since leaving Borussia Monchengladbach at the end of last season.

Hutter was recently linked with the Leicester job, before the post went to Dean Smith.

He has previously managed RB Salzburg, Young Boys, Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Monchengladbach.

During his time with Eintracht, Hutter guided them to the Europa League semi-finals.

He left his last club Monchengladbach after just one season last summer, having come a disappointing tenth in the Bundesliga.

Hutter would become the second Austrian to manage in the Premier League, after Ralph Hasenhuttl.

On his future, Hutter confirmed last week: “I’ve always set myself big goals. The Premier League would be a big goal.”

Palace currently sit 12th in the Premier League, nine points above the relegation zone and just three behind Chelsea.

It’s claimed that Hodgson could remain at Palace is an advisory role, with Hutter taking charge.
