Despite the 25-year-old appearing in discomfort as he slowly departed, he still found time for one lovely gesture.

TV cameras picked up a young United fan proudly holding Rashford’s shirt aloft after the star player had been subbed off.

The England international had made the effort to hand the youngster his shirt before limping down the tunnel.

Rashford could later be seen without his shirt as he headed back to the dressing room.

United fans will be praying his issue is not too serious with the star still enjoying an extraordinary purple patch.

Rashford has 15 Premier League goals this campaign and 28 in all competitions.

With the exception of United transfer target Victor Osimhen, Rashford has the most goals of any player in Europe since the end of the World Cup.

He would have been disappointed to not add to his numbers with Jordan Pickford making a big first-half save to deny his Three Lions colleague.
