CHELSEA have been dealt a double injury blow in their season run-in after both Reece James and Mason Mount were sidelined.
Frank Lampard revealed the pair were likely to be out for the rest of the season.
However, the caretaker Blues boss hopes to have Mount back for the final game of the season.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Brentford on Wednesday, Lampard said: “Reece James unavailable, probably for the season.
“Mason the same, potential for the last game of the season.”
Lampard explained the nature of injuries before revealing Mount would be having minor surgery, saying: “Reece had a hamstring injury.

“Mason has been carrying this pelvic injury for quite a while, so he’s been trying, but we’ve got to a stage where he will have minor surgery. Probably a four-week recovery.”
In addition to two of their main academy graduates, Lampard also revealed a knock against Kai Havertz.
He added: “Kai [is] struggling a little bit with a knee, but should be training by the end of the week.”
Chelsea’s season has grown gradually worse and worse, culminating in the sacking of Graham Potter after he replaced Thomas Tuchel early in the season.

However, since sacking Potter on April 2, the club have failed to even pick up a single draw, scoring just once in four games Lampard has taken charge of.
It has left the club 11th in the Premier League and out of the Champions League after back-to-back 2-0 defeats to Real Madrid.
Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly closing in on the permanent job at Stamford Bridge after Julian Nagelsmann pulled out of the race.
Although SunSport understands Lampard will stay on until the end of the season.
