MANCHESTER UNITED fans were left thanking Adrien Rabiot’s mum after last night’s FA Cup victory over Reading.
Casemiro’s double saw United gain passage to the fifth-round of the competition as the Brazilian once again stole the show at Old Trafford.
His formidable performances since arriving in August have gained plaudits from fans and pundits – but it may have all been so different.
Rabiot was originally United’s main target to fill the hole in their midfield but the deal could not be done.
It has been reported that the robust demands of his agent mother, Veronique Rabiot, was the reason the move collapsed.
United fans could not help but pay tribute to her role in allowing Casemiro to wind up in Manchester.

One fan said on Twitter: “Thank you, Veronique Rabiot for giving us the best defensive midfielder in the world.
One supporter went even further with a tongue-in-cheek demand to “dedicate a statue” in the agent mum’s honour.
Another said: “Rabiot, we’ve all forgotten about him. Thank you, Véronique!”
And another fan, trying to underline the importance of Casemiro, said: “I’m telling you now. Take Casemiro out of that United side and replace him with Rabiot and we’d be 10 points worse off in the league at least.

“He’s absolutely pivotal to the improvement in this side.”
United are enjoying their most competitive season in years under Erik ten Hag.
A brilliant run of form following the World Cup had even sparked talk of a title challenge before last week’s defeat at the Emirates when Casemiro was suspended.
Despite that disappointment, United have bounced back with two victories in the cup competitions this week.
The Red Devils now have a FA Cup fifth round draw to look forward to and have one foot at Wembley for the Carabao Cup.
Next month will also see a huge Europa League clash as United face off against Barcelona over two legs.
