Ben Foster begs former Man Utd team-mate with huge trophy haul to join him at Wrexham and he doesn’t rule it out

BEN Foster used his time playing in goal at Soccer Aid productively as he tried to recruit former United team-mate Nani for Wrexham.

Foster signed for the club owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney on a short-term deal in March.

He signed a year long-contract extension to extend his stay at the club last week.

The goalkeeper’s crucial penalty save against title-rivals Notts County in April was enough to all-but confirm Wrexham’s promotion back to the Football League.

And he has wasted no time in trying to recruit former Premier League stars to help Wrexham’s cause in League Two.

Foster vlogged his entire Soccer Aid experience for his YouTube channel, and this included his recruitment drive.

He said to Nani, 36, who was playing for the Soccer Aid World XI: “Nani hasn’t got a club everybody,

“I think he should come to Wrexham.”

Nani did not rule out the possibility of joining the Red Dragons, saying: “You never know.”

But Foster was not convinced, simply saying: “Liar.”

If Wrexham could secure the former-United man’s signature, he would be by far the most decorated player to join the club having won four Premier Leagues, the Champions League as well as the Euros with Portugal.

He is not the first high-profile player to be linked with a move to Wrexham.

Last month, Wales Euro 2016 hero Hal Robson Kanu offered to come out of retirement and donate his wages to charity to get in on the Welsh side’s Hollywood project.

Wrexham owners Reynolds and McElhenney also embarked on a charm offensive to secure Gareth Bale’s signature after he left LAFC.

The former Real Madrid man ultimately opted to retire from the game however.

Wrexham will play in the football league for the first time since 2008 this season.
