A knock for Nathan Ake?
It looked as though there could be trouble for Manchester City after 20 minutes when Nathan Ake went down injured.
He ended up having to be substituted, perhaps as a precaution, and was replaced by Manuel Akanji.
We are yet to learn the extent of his injury, but hopefully he will be back and ready to play against Atletico next week.
Up next…
Manchester City’s next opponents are Atletico Madrid in Seoul.
They have two wins from two in pre-season now, and will look to make it three from three when they face off against Joao Felix and co.
New threads
I think we need to take a moment to appreciate Manchester City’s new third kit.
They wore it for the first time today, in their 2-1 win over Bayern Munich, and it looks absolutely stunning.
The nameset on the back is in a Japanese-style typeface too, and looks sensational.
Here are some stunning shots of the players rocking it…
Man of the match
There were a number of good performers out there today, for both sides.
Jamal Musiala was excellent in the first half, and caused no end of problems for Manchester City.
As for the winners, Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva were brilliant, but man of the match has to go to Rico Lewis.
The natural defender was playing in a midfield role today, and played absolutely sensationally.
He set up the first goal, and caused no end of problems going forward for the Bayern Munich defence.
Manchester City 2-1 Bayern Munich
FT. The referee blows the whistle for full time, and the game ends 2-1 in favour of Manchester City on this occasion.
They are victorious, just as they were in the Champions League last season.
That makes it two wins from two in pre-season for the Cityzens, as they look to set themselves up for another stellar campaign.
Manchester City 2-1 Bayern Munich
90. A further two minutes of added time at the end of the second half here.
Manchester City 2-1 Bayern Munich
87. Laporte gives City the lead again!
A sly through pass from Maximo Perrone finds Phil Foden on the right hand side, he takes a shot that is saved well by Ulreich.
This time the rebound falls in favour of Aymeric Laporte, who finishes with aplomb.
Manchester City 1-1 Bayern Munich
84. What a save by Ulreich!
The ball comes in from a corner and Aymeric Laporte is the man who meets it with a header.
It is sent towards the top corner, but a beautiful diving save by Ulreich denies City re-taking the lead.
Manchester City 1-1 Bayern Munich
82. Bayern level the scoring through Mathys Tel!
The Germans get down the left side and the ball is crossed in, the first shot is blasted at Ederson, and the rebound falls at the feet of Mathys Tel who taps home.
The 18-year-old is one of the hottest prospects in European football, and is showing us all why.
Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich
79. City are keeping the ball in their own half here, and just making Bayern do all the hard work.
All of a sudden they break through a long ball over the top towards Haaland, and they remind Bayern of just how dangerous they can be.
Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich
77. City are controlling the game here.
Every player is getting on the ball, Cancelo, Perrone, Foden and Gomez are all involved in this move that eventually breaks down.
It would have been a hell of a goal if it came off.
Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich
74. There hasn’t been too much goalmouth action for me to describe for you in the second half so far.
Often in these pre-season friendlies we see this, where there are so many changes at half-time that the life is almost sucked out of the game.
Each and every one of those players has to adapt to the pace of the game as quickly as possible.
Superb defending by Leon Goretzka allows Bayern to escape the pressure of Oscar Bobb.
Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich
71. Fine footwork by Oscar Bobb again to find Bernardo Silva on the right hand side of the pitch again.
Every time those two combine, it looks as though there could be trouble for Bayern Munich.
Ending his fine performance with a ball into Joao Cancelo, Bernardo Silva is replaced by Maximo Perrone for Man City.
Ten substitutes are on the pitch for City now, and the only player left in from the start is Ederson.
Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich
69. Oscar Bobb pulls the trigger from the edge of the box just before the second water break of the day.
His shot is blazed over, but he is applauded by Bernardo Silva nonetheless, it looks like they have a great relationship.
Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich
67. Erling Haaland hasn’t really had a sniff in the game just yet, with only really a half-chance to his name.
Don’t be surprised to see him pop up on the score sheet before you know it.
Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich
65. Bayern are struggling to get out of their own final third here, and Bernardo Silva is continuing to cause problems whenever he combines with Oscar Bobb on the right-hand-side.
Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich
62. Manchester City switch the ball to the left hand side with Joao Cancelo, and they are starting to look really comfortable in this second half.
It looks like they are going to have too much strength for Bayern Munich from here on out…
Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich
58. So close for Manchester City!
How is it still 1-0?
Oscar Bobb does really well down the right hand side of the pitch to slot Bernardo Silva in.
He crosses the ball low and hard into the middle of the box and causes chaos in the box as Rodri’s touch is cleared off the line.
Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich
56. Brilliant work from Bernardo Silva who is battling down the right-hand-side with Sadio Mane.
Mane eventually does tackle him and wins a throw.
Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich
53. Really lovely intricate play by Erling Haaland and Oscar Bobb through the middle of the park.
Haaland can’t quite get the better of the Bayern Munich centre back to set himself for a shot.
Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich
51. Sadio Mane has caused Manchester City plenty of problems over the years, and is on the pitch for Bayern now, trying to get down the left hand side.
He tries to play a through ball, but it goes to no one.
Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich
49. Some big names are on the pitch for Manchester City now, including the likes of Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Rodri, AYmeric Laporte and more.
Also on the pitch is Oscar Bobb, keep an eye on him.
Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich
46. Wholesale changes at the break for both sides!
There are nine changes for Manchester City, and eleven for Bayern Munich.Half-time | Manchester City 1-0 Bayern Munich
You would actually say that Bayern Munich were probably the better side in the first half, but the scoreline doesn’t reflect that.
Jamal Musiala looked really dangerous, as did Leroy Sane, but the star of the first half was definitely Rico Lewis for Manchester City.
It was an end-to-end, action packed first half, and we will be bringing you the second half shortly!
