ARSENAL have agreed a transfer fee with Ajax for defender Jurrien Timber as Mikel Arteta continues his summer spending.
The Gunners have been tracking the centre-back since the window opened but they now have a breakthrough in the deal.
According to David Ornstein, Arsenal agreed a deal worth £34million plus £4.3m in add ons.
Timber, 22, made 47 appearances last season and has two Dutch league titles to his name.
He is also capable of playing at right-back but looks destined to partner William Saliba in Arsenal’s back four.
Timber will be Arteta’s second major signing of the summer, having brought in Kai Havertz from Chelsea for £65m.
