Griezmann has already netted 12 times in just 16 games for Atletico since making his permanent return to the Mattress Makers.

And his eye-catching performances have seen suggestions of Manchester United making a January move for the 32-year-old.

However the hopes of the red side of Manchester have been dashed after Griezmann said he is planning his future at the Metropolitano Stadium.

Speaking to Marca, he said: “I am motivated to be someone important at Atlético, to be a legend at this club.

“I know I have to earn it. Now I have many goals for this year, but I want to win La Liga and I need it. I’ve never done it and it would be nice.”

He went on to say: “By 2024 I want to bring joy to the fans and some title for Atlético. It would be a dream.”

It has been reported that Grizemann has a shockingly low release clause set at just £21.9million, which would make him an affordable target for Man Utd.

But the Red Devils may now cool any interest in a move with the former Barcelona man explaining his plans to stay and achieve big things with Atletico.

Reports had suggested that Griezmann was being eyed by Erik ten Hag and co as a replacement for Jadon Sancho.

The English winger has been frozen out of the Man Utd squad since his war-of-words with ten Hag and is expected to head for the exit doors in January.
