ANGE POSTECOGLOU says he won’t argue with Lionel Messi’s claim that Tottenham’s Cristiano Romero is the best defender in the world.
The Spurs boss admitted the Argentine is so good even his team-mates hate training with him.
World Cup winner Romero was praised by seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Messi for his performance in Argentina’s 1-0 victory against Ecuador last week.
Following the match he said about the Spurs star: “For me, he is the best defender in the world right now.
“Amazing performance tonight, man of the match.”
This wasn’t a surprise to Postecoglou who has been impressed with how the Argentine has grown in the Spurs squad since his move.

And the Aussie boss admits he will not oppose Messi as Romero continues to shine.
He told TalkSPORT: “I wouldn’t argue with Messi. I’ll tell you what, I wouldn’t like to play against Romero.
“Most of the boys don’t like to train against him. He’s a real competitor and I love that about him.
“Whether it’s training or a game, what you see is what you get with Romero.”

The 25-year-old signed for Tottenham on a permanent basis last summer following a season-long loan from Atalanta and has since endured a mixed spell.
Romero has been a part of Argentina’s recent successes including the World Cup and the 2021 Copa America.
He has helped Spurs record two clean sheets and three wins from their opening four unbeaten matches so far in the Premier League.
Now he and Spurs supporters will be hoping he came through Argentina’s trip to Bolivia on Tuesday unscathed and is raring to go when his club returns to domestic action against Sheffield United on Saturday.
