That’s all from Milan
AC Milan defeated Tottenham 1-0 at the San Siro after a disappointing performance from Antonio Conte’s side .
Milan broke the deadlock after just seven minutes with Brahim Diaz’s goal.
Theo Hernandez beat Cristian Romero in the air down the left and delivered a low cross that found Diaz waiting at the far post.
The attacking midfielder delivered a speedy and powerful shot that Fraser Forster denied with a wonderful save.
But the Spaniard followed up and headed it to the back of the net.
That’s all from us here at SunSport, have a wonderful night!
Milan finally beat Spurs
AC Milan have beaten Tottenham for the first time ever across all competitions.
Heading to tonight’s Champions League encounter, the two sides had faced off four times.
Spurs won twice and drew the other two matches across all competitions.
But Milan have finally ended their long-running hoodoo
Brahim Diaz milestone
AC Milan ace Brahim Diaz made Champions League history with his goal against Tottenham.
Diaz is now Milan’s second youngest ever goalscorer in the competition behind Kaka.
The playmaker found the back of the net at 23 years and 195 days old.
The legendary Brazilian, on the other hand, broke the record on March 2004 with a brace against Deportivo de La Coruna in the quarter-finals at 21 years and 336 days old
How do Tottenham go through?
Tottenham are on the back foot after losing 1-0 to AC Milan at the San Siro.
That means Spurs have to win in the return fixture on March 8 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
If the North Londoners win by a goal difference then the match will go to extra-time and possibly penalties if nothing changes.
But a win with at least a two-goal difference would see Antonio Conte’s men going through to the Champions League quarter-finals
AC Milan vs Tottenham stats
Tottenham lost even though they dominated 53 per cent of possession.
Spurs produced a total of 12 shots but only a fourth was on target.
AC Milan, on the other hand, managed nine shots – four of which were on target.
