FORMULA ONE chiefs have donated €1 million to support communities affected by flooding in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy.
It comes after this weekend’s race at Imola was cancelled due to the devastation caused by heavy rain.
At least 13 people have died as a result of the flooding with thousands evacuated from their homes.
F1 have made funds available to help the region’s Agency for Territorial Safety and Civil Protection.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of F1, said: “I was born and grew up in the marvellous lands of Emilia Romagna, a place that is living through some of the saddest moments in its history.
“The situation facing the communities in the region is terrible, but I know that the resilience and passion of the people in the region, like so many across Italy, will prevail through this crisis.

“We must do everything we can to support them at this difficult time and that is why we are donating to help support the relief efforts on the ground.
“My thoughts, on behalf of the entire F1 community, are with everyone affected and we want to thank the emergency services for their incredible work.”
Following the devastating flooding Yuki Tsunoda was spotted helping out by shovelling mud off the streets.
The Alpha Tauri driver was doing all he could to help those impacted by the rain alongside other members of his team.

Alpha Tauri’s head office is based in Northern Italy in the city of Faenza which has been hit badly by the floods.
The next Grand Prix is the Monaco GP which will take place on Sunday 28 May.
