BRITISH star Joe Turney suffered a sickening injury after being hit by a rival kart in a horrifying clash at the FIA World Finals.
The shocking incident occurred during lap ten of the race in Franciacorta, Italy.
Turney, 22, had been leading before being overtaken by Gabriel Gomez.
The tenacious competitor managed to get back in front of Gomez, only for a collision to send both of them off track.
Despite his chances of winning having evaporated after being overtaken by eight rivals, Turney hauled his kart back on to the track in a bid to get going again.
As he did so, Spaniard Nacho Tunon came haring round the corner, subsequently running over Turney’s ankle.
