BOXING fans were left stunned after an uncharacteristic gaffe by announcer Michael Buffer on the Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury undercard.
The sporting icon was brought in to lend his legendary voice for the announcing duties for the latter part of the undercard and the main event.
But moments before the co-main event of the evening, he made an absolute howler by announcing the wrong fighter.
As Badou Jack made his way to the ring for his WBC cruiserweight title fight with champion Ilunga Makabu, Buffer announced Fury’s name to the crowd in attendance at the purpose-built stadium in Diriyah.
Boxing fans were quick to comment on the out-of-character error, with one saying: “Michael Buffer there, introducing Badou Jack as Tommy Fury.
“Easily done as they look so alike.”

“I thought my video was way behind the audio.”

Buffer quickly realised his error and correctly announced Swedish slugger Jack and defending champion Makabu.
