Deontay Wilder addresses claims he could sign with Eddie Hearn to boost chances of Anthony Joshua fight

DEONTAY WILDER has spoken out about claims he could sign with Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn.

The Bronze Bomber rubbished discussions that his rocky relationship with the Brit’s promoter had been patched up.

He was asked by Pro Boxing Fans if there was any truth in rumours of him teaming up with Matchroom Boxing.

Wilder replied: “That’s a negative.”

He is currently open to working with a range of people after splitting from Lou DiBella.

Hearn previously stated that he would love to work on the fight between the American and Andy Ruiz Jr, which was ordered by the WBC in November last year.

This fuelled speculation regarding a clash between AJ and Wilder prior to the latter’s shutdown.

Hearn previously said: “Absolutely. We’d love to. I would love to make Wilder against Ruiz.

“I think it’s a great fight, it’s been ordered, and we’d love to try and make it happen. Free agent. There you go.”

It seems unlikely that Wilder will fight under a Hearn promotion any time soon, according to reports.

The 37-year-old and Joshua are both without world title belts and a bout is seen as a perfect opportunity for the winner to earn a future shot at clinching glory.

Wilder is supposedly open to a range of fights this year after knocking out Robert Helenius in the first round in October following back-to-back losses to Tyson Fury.

Meanwhile, Joshua is looking to respond after consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk.

Next up, he faces Jermaine Franklin on April 1 in London.
