TARIQ LAMPTEY is hoping to achieve major success with Ghana at the World Cup – but he could have played for England.
Since making his switch from Stamford Bridge to the Amex in 2021, the Brighton full-back has been able to showcase his talent.
And now Lamptey has the opportunity to help the Black Stars go as far in the Qatar tournament as they possibly can.
But why is he representing Ghana and not England?

Lamptey, 22, was born in London and progressed through the Chelsea academy from a young age.
However, his father Ahmed was born in Ghana which is how the Brighton ace qualifies to play for Ghana.

The wing-back did get a call-up for England at youth level where he made 20 appearances.
But Lamptey picked up a major injury which saw him miss the start of last season – where he was then mainly used off the bench by former Seagulls boss Graham Potter.
Unfortunately for Lamptey, this made his chances of breaking into the senior England team slim.
