JACK Rodwell was one of the Premier League’s brightest young talents after making his Everton debut aged 16.
The following years of his career have seemingly not gone as everyone expected, but Rodwell is back playing football again, although not in England.
Where is Premier League star Jack Rodwell now?
Jack Rodwell moved to Australia and signed with A-league side Western Sydney Wanderers in November 2021.
A successful season saw him score three goals in 14 appearances, and was selected for the A-league all stars team as captain against Spanish giants Barcelona.
Rodwell then joined rivals Sydney FC in August 2022 on a free transfer on a two-year contract.
He said of the move: “It is such a great feeling to join the most successful club in the country.”

What happened to Jack Rodwell?
Born on March 11, 1991, Rodwell was a promising youngster who came through the Everton youth academy.
Rodwell scored his first Premier League goal in February 2010 against Manchester United, an impressive solo run sealing a 3-1 for the Toffees.
He made his debut for England in a 1-0 win against Spain in 2011, and earned a total of three caps for the national team.
Rodwell signed for Manchester City in 2012 for an initial fee of £12million.

Despite his potential, he found opportunities limited, appearing only 25 times and scoring twice for the club.
He did however make five appearance in the 2013/14 Premier League season for City, earning him a Premier League winners medal.
Rodwell joined Sunderland in 2014 for an undisclosed fee, and criticised his former club, saying young English players should think twice before joining them.
He played far more regular first team football at the Wearside club, but was unable to save them from relegation to the Championship in 2017.
Rodwell was criticised by fans of the club for not taking a pay cut after dropping down a division, and found first team football hard to come by in the following months.
He was released from his contract in June 2018 after Sunderland were relegated for a second consecutive season, and joined Blackburn on a one-year deal.
Rodwell played 22 times for the Lancashire club, but rejected a new contract and left in 2019.
He then went on trial and had a medical at Roma, but the Italian side opted against signing him.
He left English football after an unsuccessful time at Sheffield United, where the midfielder only played twice in a season and a half at the club.
He played three times for England during his career after impressing in the U21 squad.
His last appearance was in 2013.

Rodwell married Australian Alana Licate in 2013.
