EX-SWANSEA CITY and Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony has left fans shocked as he popped up with a goal for League Two side Newport County’s development team.
The Ivorian made his name in England after a prolific spell with the Swans led to a big-money move to the Etihad Stadium in 2015.
However, the switch to Manchester was not a success and after a year and half, he was loaned to Stoke City before eventually re-joining Swansea on loan in 2016.
The striker then had spells with Al-Ittihad and then NEC Nijmegen, but most recently he has been training with the team in England’s fourth division.
Bony trains with Newport while he is between clubs in order to maintain his fitness, so when he popped up with an 87th-minute winning goal against Swindon Town, fans were shocked.
One said: “What the f*** is Wilfried Bony doing in Newport County’s development squad?”

One said: “Just sign him up already lads lol he’s always at Newport.”
A second added: “Lads just sign him or he’ll be playing for Ammanford before long.”
However former manager Michael Flynn did once admit that while the club would have loved to have signed him, they simply can’t afford him.
He said: “If he turned around and said, ‘can we do something to the end of the season?’ Everyone would be delighted.
“But it’s not going to happen because of the amount of money that Wilf is getting offered.
“He’s got to think of his family and do what’s right for Wilfried Bony.”
