ARSENAL are in action in the Premier League where they face London rivals West Ham.

Mikel Arteta’s side have won their last two games in stunning fashion against Chelsea and Manchester United.

After a woeful three losses on the bounce, Arsenal fought back to put themselves firmly in contention for fourth place and a return to the Champions League.

Defender White is out for Arsenal with a hamstring injury, as Rob Holding replaces him in defence.

  • Goal! Rob Holding breaks the deadlock!

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    36. Coufal attempts to pick out Bowen with a pass down the right touchline, but it’s utterly hopeless and races for a throw in 20 yards down away.

It’s the closest I’ve ever been to booing my own television.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    34. It’s still a bit flat at the London Stadium, but West Ham are looking the more likely.

If anybody is looking likely, that is.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    32. Rice takes the opportunity to test Ramsdale after space opens up in the Arsenal defensive third.

The midfielder slams a shot straight at the grateful goalkeeper.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    30. A first opportunity for Saka to set off down the right with the ball at his feet.

The 20-year-old initially does brilliantly to keep the ball in play, and then cuts inside to find Nketiah.

Plays runs away from the striker. and then it’s only some excellent tracking back from Noble that stops Odegaard from picking up possession on the edge of the area.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    29. Another block from Holding, and this one perhaps denies a goal.

The Arsenal defence again fail to deal with a cross fizzed in from the right, allowing the ball to fall kindly for Lanzini at the far post.

The Argentine takes a touch to control, and then unleashes a shot that Holding throws himself in front of to stop.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    27. We’ve had a shot on goal.

Not a very good one, but they all count.

Gabriel is unconvincing in heading clear Coufal’s cross, and in steps Fornals. He chests down, and then smashes a half-volley over the crossbar.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    26. Shouts for a handball!

Benrahma’s cross finds Lanzini, whose header clips the body of Holding.

The home fans want a penalty but neither Mike Dean or the VAR officials are interested in the claims.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    25. The home fans are doing what they can to raise the tempo.

For a stadium that rightly gets a lot of criticism, these fans are capable of making some noise inside it.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    23. It’s always nice to go for a Sunday stroll around some greenery.

I just didn’t think it would be the case for these 22 players at the London Stadium.

I’m half expecting Granit Xhaka to stop in a beer garden for a pint and a read of the Sunday papers.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    21. Even Declan Rice is off the pace today.

He steps forward out of midfield and goes searching for the run of Fornals on the right, but overhits his pass to about 20 yards from where he intended.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    19. Fabianski helps the home side to survive another cross swung into a packed penalty box, bravely punching away under pressure from Tomiyasu.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    17. Another Arsenal corner on the right, this time swung in by Odegaard.

The Norwegian sees his cross dealt with in the same way as Saka’s in the early seconds.

This powerful header clear comes courtesy of Zouma.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    16. The start to this one is summed up by Fornals, who receives possession in a relatively dangerous position on the right wing.

He looks up, and then sends a weak, low cross straight into the arms of Ramsdale.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    15. Zouma leaves a sore one on Elneny.

Insert your own cat joke here.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    14. “It’s not the kind of London derby you’d normally expect. It’s a slow burner at the moment,” says Alan Smith on co-commentary.

He’s not wrong. It’s been an uneventful opening quarter of an hour.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    12. Nuno Tavares finds himself under the microscope for the first time today.

The left-back is required to shield a long ball down the line with Coufal in pursuit, and does well to evade the Czech before clearing.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    10. Under pressure, Ramsdale deals with the corner by punching it away from his packed six-yard box.

The Arsenal keeper then spends the next ten seconds complaining to referee Mike Dean about being held.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    9. Bowen miscrontrols a lofted ball forward but, in doing so, completely deceives Gabriel.

The West Ham man drives forward, eventually finds Fornals, and the home side win their first corner of the game.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    7. Benrahma gets to the byline on the left, and attempts a low centre into the area.

Elneny reads it well, cooly covers and clears.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    5. A clever pass from Odegaard dissects the West Ham midfield and finds Nketiah, who tries to do the same with a quick flick.

It doesn’t come off, and Cresswell hoofs away from danger.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    4. As was hinted at before kick-off, Fredericks – usually a right-back – is playing on the left side of a back four.

Cresswell is operating at centre-back alongside Zouma while Coufal finds himself on the opposite flank to Fredericks.

  • West Ham 0-0 Arsenal

    2. Now it’s West Ham’s turn to break, and do with the exciting Bowen in possession.

It doesn’t take the forward long to draw a foul from Xhaka, who steps across Bowen and trips him up.

Like their opponents before them, however, the hosts fail to make the most of the set-piece.

  • Kick-off – West Ham v Arsenal

    1. The players take the knee, and then it’s Arsenal – all in yellow – that get the game underway…

…and win a corner inside the opening ten seconds.

Saka has the early opportunity to test the home defence with a curling delivery, but his cross is powered away by Rice at the near post.

  • Here come the two teams!

The bubbles are blowing, the atmosphere is electric and here come the players of West Ham and Arsenal.

If these home fans truly are focused on Thursday’s match with Frankfurt, it doesn’t show with the noise that’s emanating from the stands.

It’s a huge game for the Gunners. It’s a massive week for the Hammers. Kick-off is moments away.
