TOTTENHAM earned a point at London rivals West Ham but may feel they should have had more.
Antonio Conte’s men thought they had been given a penalty for a handball by Aaron Cresswell.
However VAR overturned the decision as the ball ricocheted off his head before striking his hand.
Spurs did then take the lead through a Thilo Kehrer own goal in the first half, but Tomas Soucek equalised for the hosts after the break.
Goodnight from the London Stadium
It’s been another dramatic night in the Premier League from first minute to last – and it’s not over yet.
There’s one more game still to come in this midweek schedule with Leicester hosting Manchester United tomorrow, and that’s not all.
Because in 24 hours time, the transfer window will slam shut and we’re expecting as much excitement in the boardroom as out on the pitch.
You won’t miss a single deal or kick with us here at SunSport so be sure to join us on Thursday to keep on top of the latest news from your club.
Until then, thanks for joining us and goodbye.
Conte slams use of VAR
Tottenham boss Antonio Conte was critical of the Premier League’s use of VAR after seeing his side have a penalty given in the first half – that was then over-ruled by the video officials.
Peter Bankes had originally awarded a spotkick when Harry Kane’s header appeared to strike Aaron Cresswell’s arm, but the officials at Stockley Park informed the referee that the ball had first come off the defender’s head.
I spoke with the referee and told him ‘you made the right decision, and then the VAR told you to look again’. It is strange. Usually the VAR only call when the decision is not right, but in England they need to learn much more how to use VAR.

Happy Hammers on the up
A first home point of the season has lifted West Ham away the bottom three, and leaves them in a much better looking position than this time last week.
At the other end of the table, Spurs remain third, having kept their unbeaten start to the season in tact. However, they are already four points adrift of North London rivals Arsenal.
- Arsenal 2-1 Aston Villa
- Bournemouth 0-0 Wolves
- Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle
- Man City 6-0 Nott’m Forest
- West Ham 1-1 Tottenham
Skipper Rice rues late chances.
West Ham captain Declan Rice admitted it was a game of fine margins after his side were inches away from taking all three points in the closing seconds.
However, the midfielder also said he was delighted with the Hammers’ overall game, and thought it was a performance much improved on recent home showings.
It’s a positive point, and at the end, you see it’s a game of margins. There was a different energy to us tonight. We were up for it, a London derby. WE know what it means to the fans and to us as players. Every tackle and every header is going to be roared, and you get yourself up for these occasions. To be 1-0 down, to come back, and to almost win the game was a positive performance.

Stats from the London Stadium
Tottenham had close to twice the possession and passes of their hosts, but elsewhere there was little separate the two teams in terms of the numbers.
Full time – West Ham 1-1 Tottenham
It ends all square in this London derby following a much-improved showing from West Ham in the second half.

It was a first goal at the London Stadium for the hosts this season and meant a first home point.
For Spurs, their undefeated campaign continues, but they will be disappointed by how this match seemingly got away from them after the break.
