The former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich star is now manager of Bayer Leverkusen.

Last night the Germans managed to book their spot in the Europa League with a 0-0 draw against Club Brugge in their final Champions League group stage game.

And Alonso proved he could still cut it at the top level with a remarkable bit of skill.

A high ball came sailing down towards the Spaniard as he stood on the touchline.

But ever the silky playmaker, Alonso stuck out a leg to deftly control the ball while also knocking it to a Brugge player for a throw-in.

Richards then attempted to recreate the moment in the CBS studio alongside Roberto Martinez, Jamie Carragher and Kate Abdo.

But as the ball was thrown to Richards, he clumsily attempted to control it with his shin.

The ball bounced off Richards’ leg before rolling away.

This caused his fellow studio members to roar with laughter, with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry also joining the panel.

Fans found Richard’s awful touch hilarious as well.

One declared: “Dreadful touch there Micah. Xabi is two steps ahead of you.”

Another laughed: “Micah never had it to be fair.”
