Watch Marcus Rashford score 100th Man Utd goal to become first Old Trafford star to reach milestone since Wayne Rooney

MARCUS RASHFORD became the first Manchester United star since Wayne Rooney to reach 100 club goals with a sensational header against West Ham.

The striker – who scored twice on his first-team debut back in February 2016 – netted the opening goal 38 minutes into the Premier League clash with David Moyes’ side.

He latched onto the end of Christian Eriksen’s superb cross to head home his 100th goal for the Red Devils.

In doing so, he became the first player since United legend Rooney to reach the milestone.

Rooney – who was watching on from the Old Trafford stands – joined the 100 club in August 2009 when he scored a brace against Wigan in the Premier League.

The United legend went on to score a further 153 goals for the Red Devils before leaving for Everton in 2017.

He also enjoyed an illustrious international career with a record-breaking total of 53 England goals.

Meanwhile, Rashford is on the verge of a second World Cup call-up.

The striker has been one of Man Utd’s most influential players so far this season, having scored seven goals and assisted three in 15 appearances.

He was also named Premier league player of the month for September following a spell of fantastic form with the Red Devils.

Man Utd currently sit fifth in the league table with 23 points from 12 games.

Rashford’s first-half finish was enough to secure all three points as the Red Devils went on to claim a 1-0 win.

When asked how he felt to score his 100th Man Utd goal after the game, the striker told BBC’s Match of the Day: “Beautiful feeling.

“Something I have been working on, I feel I need to score more goals like that and keep getting in those areas.

“Pleased that I have managed to score today and it’s always good to score regardless of whether Gareth Southgate is watching or not.”
