Watch bizarre moment referee HIGH FIVES Atletico Madrid defender Reinildo after booking him during Porto defeat

REFEREE Daniele Orsato amazingly HIGH-FIVED Atletico Madrid defender Reinildo after booking him.

Fans on social media were divided on how Orsato ended up in the bizarre exchange as Atletico exited Europe with a 2-1 Champions League loss at Porto.

Fans were baffled at how and why this exchange took place

Some kind-hearted observers believe the ref somehow thought Reinildo was trying to apologise by shaking his hand

Others believed he was reacting instinctively when Reinildo put his hand up to him following the Mozambique left-back’s yellow card in the middle of the pitch.

One said: “Reinildo asking for forgiveness and the referee thinking that he wanted to shake his hand.”

But another joked: “Confirmed: Daniele Orsato and Reinildo are very good friends.”

The odd moment, though, failed to distract attention from Atletico’s astonishing humbling.

Finishing bottom of their group means it’s the first time they’ve been totally knocked out of Europe before Christmas in Diego Simeone’s 11-year reign.

Fans called for the world’s highest-paid manager to be sacked.

Atletico, in fact, rarely threatened to grab the third place in the group needed to squeeze into the Europa League.
