Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has given despairing Manchester United fans a shred of hope, by claiming they have ‘good players all over the pitch’.
The comments from a key player for United’s most bitter rivals will raise eyebrows, given that United are bottom of the league after losing their first two Prem games.
Van Dijk’s side travel to Old Trafford next and many supporters are fearing a hammering after losing 4-0 to Brentford in their last game.
Liverpool also beat United 5-0 at Old Trafford only last season, seeing thousands of disgruntled Red Devils fans seeking to escape the embarrassment at half-time.
Dutch defender Van Dijk, in what many will label as mind games, said: “They are a good team in my opinion, they have good players all over the pitch.
“Obviously they’re not in the best situation confidence-wise, but it’s the perfect game to turn it around for them.”

To add to their worries, they are also missing star signing Darwin Nunez after the striker was sent off for head butting Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen in their 1-1 draw.
Liverpool were already light up top on the back of losing Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich.
Van Dijk said: “We’re looking at ourselves and we want to make sure we’re ready for it and we are going to work hard again.

“This year, they’ve had a difficult start and we’ve not had the best start that we wanted either, so it will be interesting.”
