SUNDERLAND left it late to scrape past Sheffield Wednesday and earn themselves a spot in the League One play-off final.
Lee Gregory’s 74th minute equaliser looked to be taking the two sides into extra time.
But Patrick Roberts’ well-placed stoppage time finish fired the Black Cats to Wembley where Wycombe awaits.

Goodnight!
Will they go all the way?
We could be in for an absolute cracker of a play off final.
When Wycombe faced Sunderland earlier this season it was 3-3.
That’s right, a six goal thriller, if the play-off final is anything like that then we are really in for a special day at Wembley.
Sunderland vs Wycombe Wanderers
It is Sunderland against Wycombe in the play off final this year for League One.
5th place against 6th place in the final, that is the beauty of the play offs.
Bailey Wright speaks out:
Bailey Wright spoke to SkySports On whether this year is going to be different for Sunderland
Yeah, we have got to believe, we have got a camaraderie, we have got a togetherness. That is not just in the playing group, that’s the staff, the fans, and that counts for a lot. On top of that we have got quality.
Bailey Wright
Patrick Roberts reacts:
On the teams reaction to Wednesday’s goal:
“We had to keep believing, keep going, stick it in there. We knew it would be tough coming here, it was tough for them going to our place, so we had to dig in and find that extra bit of energy which has been there for the last few weeks.”
Patrick Roberts
A deserved win
Patrick Roberts the hero, he is some player.
Sunderland deserved that after a monumental effort over the two legs.
Barry Bannan was sensational tonight, but Wednesday ultimately missed Dominic Iorfa tonight defensively.

Wednesday have work to do.
