  • Flick discusses the heat

Plenty of criticism has been sent Qatar’s way ahead of the World Cup.

But before the construction even started, fans knew that the high temperatures would be a problem.

As a result, the tournament has been moved to the winter and matches will be played later in the day.

This afternoon’s encounter will help the German players adapt to what it will feel like playing in Doha.

Naturally, it’s very hot during the day, but this evening has offered the perfect conditions. The temperature is very pleasant and the turf is top quality. These are optimal conditions for what we are preparing for.

  • Good afternoon from Muscat

Hello and welcome to SunSport’s live coverage of this afternoon’s friendly between four-time World Cup winners Germany and Oman.

This will be a good test for Hans Flick’s men to try out some different ideas ahead of their Qatar campaign.

After a disappointing World Cup in 2018 saw them crash out at the group stages, Germany fans will be hoping for much better this time round and an easy win in this afternoon’s penultimate World Cup friendly.

However, Oman are no pushovers, beating 2002 semi-finalists Japan last year.

Branko Ivankovic’s side were unlucky not to qualify for Qatar, finishing one point behind Australia who went on to secure qualification.

We will bring you all the team news shortly as we build up to kick-off in Muscat.
