NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO is reportedly in shock talks over a return to Wolves 17 months after leaving the club by mutual consent.
The 48-year-old had a short-lived spell at Tottenham after leaving Molineux and now manages in Saudi Arabia at Al-Ittihad.
However, according to The Athletic, Santo has “his heart set on an emotional reunion” with Wolves and talks have taken place over a return.
Santo had great success with the West Midlands club, guiding them from the Championship to successive seventh-placed Premier League finishes and a Europa League quarter-final.
A sticking point could prove to be Santo’s contract at Al-Ittihad.
The ex-Porto star signed a two-year deal and took three former Wolves staff members with him.

First-team coach Ian Cathro, fitness specialist Antonio Dias and goalkeeping coach Rui Barbosa all made the move to Saudi.
The report does, however, go on to state that “there is a willingness on both sides to explore a resolution”.
Despite Nuno having the highest win percentage of any manager in Wolves’ history, he isn’t the only man in the running for the job.
Wolves chairman Jeff Shi interviewed ex-coach Rob Edwards this week as he looks to replace Bruno Lage, who was axed at the start of the month.

Santo remained a regular watcher of Wolves and a number of players he signed as manager are still at the club.
Captain Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez all remain key components of the squad.
