  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    35. Ten minutes until half-time, and Forest are desperately pushing for an equaliser.

Most of the action is taking place in the Tottenham defensive third, but the visitors still look so dangerous when they get the chance to break at pace.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    34. Another effort at goal from the home side, another lacking in accuracy and composure.

It’s Neco Williams, who slices wide of the near post with options available.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    33. A half-chance for Johnson, who gets his head on a cross from the left.

However, the ball was travelling behind the forward, and it took a great effort to twist and connect.

Unsurprisingly, it drops wide of the post.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    31. Lightning break!

Johnson is involved again, and helps in sending Gibbs-White into space on the right.

The attacking midfielder sends in a low centre early, prompting Lloris to rush off his line and push away from danger.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    30. Spurs alleviate the pressure by getting numbers forward.

It hasn’t happened too much, but here Emerson goes on the overlap to the byline.

He needn’t have bothered, mind you. The cross into the box is dreadful, and easily cut out.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    28. The Tottenham defence is getting push further and further back, but they are still determined to play it around neatly when under pressure.

In fairness, they haven’t done too much wrong so far.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    26. The Williams-Johnson combination on the right continues to thrive, and is again proving that it could be a real asset to Forest this season.

The energetic pair just need to demonstrate more composure when beyond their opponents.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    24. Kane sparks another Tottenham counter-attack with a raking ball through for Son, who is denied the chance to run at Cook when he uses his hand to control.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    23. Johnson continues to terrorise the Tottenham defence, be it through the centre or when he pulls out wide to the right.

Forest just need a striker on the end of his deliveries into the box. Could that man be Emmanuel Dennis?

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    22. Midway through the first half, and the home side have had 64% of the possession and registered six attempts on goal to Tottenham’s four.

In other words, they are having a right good go.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    20. This time O’Brien takes aim from distance, and sees his shot dealt with unconvincingly by Lloris’ push out – a save that didn’t fall too far from the lurking Worrall.

Lingard regains possession, and curls a cross too the far post that is headed back cooly – perhaps too cooly – to his goalkeeper by Perisic.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    18. Forest huff and puff in attack as shots from Lingard and Yates are blocked at close quarters.

In the Championship, the home side would expect to keep possession and rebuild, but here Spurs break at pace.

Son drives forward with a three-on-three opportunity before playing Kane in on the left.

The Tottenham goalscorer cuts back inside on the edge of the area, and curls an effort with his right foot two yards wide of the far post.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    16. Tottenham are beginning to gain more of a foothold in this contest – and look a threat every time they attack.

Perisic gets the better of Williams to float over a lovely cross that requires Cook to come to Forest’s rescue.

But the hosts don’t fully clear, and when the ball falls to Son for a second opportunity, he whips a curler just over the crossbar from 20 yards.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    13. The Kulusevski-Kane combination almost bears fruit again.

The Swede slips his striker in with a through ball, and only an excellent last-ditch tackle denies the Spurs man from getting another shot away.

It would have counted too. Kane was played onside by a dozing Mckenna on the far side.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    12. Forest push forward once more.

Johnson and Gibbs-White try to link up with an intricate one-two inside the box, and it’s only the alert tracking from Hojbjerg that stops the former from retrieving the ball before Lloris.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    11. Johnson again on the charge, and this time he wins a corner for the home side when his shot flicks off a defender.

Gibbs-White goes over to the left to deliver, but puts too much on his cross and it curls out of play.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    9. Johnson has looked dangerous in what has been an eventful opening ten minutes.

The young Forest forward gets beyond Perisic and Davies to squeeze a dangerous low delivery across the face of goal.

There’s nobody there to meet it.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    7. Disappointed but undeterred, the Forest fans – and their players – go again.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham

    5. The harsh reality of the Premier League!

Against the run of play, and with their first attack, Tottenham take the lead.

Dejan Kulusevski breaks forward from midfield, feeds Harry Kane on the right, and the striker does the rest.

It’s not the best connection of his stellar career, but Kane’s scuffed shot catches Dean Henderson unsighted by Scott McKenna and rolls into the net.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-0 Tottenham

    3. The early intent from Forest, roared on by the home support, continues.

Gibbs-White has looked lively in the opening exchanges, and fancies his chances with a shot from 25 yards.

Leaning back, it soars well over the crossbar.

  • Nott’m Forest 0-0 Tottenham

    2. The hosts test Lloris in the Tottenham goal with a couple of early crosses whipped into the penalty area, one from Lingard on the left, the other from Williams on the right.

The French stopper opts to punch clear the first before comfortably claiming the second.

  • Kick-off – Nott’m Forest v Tottenham

    1. The Forest players come together in a huddle, and then get this contest underway on Craig Pawson’s whistle.

And it takes Lingard just 12 seconds to draw the referee’s second, drawing a foul from Emerson.

  • Here come the two teams…

…and here comes the roar from the Trent End of the City Ground.

The sides, led by captains Joe Worrall and Hugo Lloris, take their place on the pitch amid a cauldron of noise.

Forest are back,’ chant the home fans. Now it’s time to see if they’re here to stay.

  • The countdown to kick-off

The players have been put through their paces, and are now back in the dressing rooms for some final words of advice, instruction and encouragement.

    The action is up next.
