Newcastle ‘fail in second £10m transfer bid for Brighton defender Dan Burn’ as Toon desperately try to sign defender

BRIGHTON have rejected a second bid for Dan Burn from Newcastle for around £10million plus add-ons.

Albion rejected an opening offer from the Magpies for the central defender in the region of £8m on Wednesday.

Toon chief Eddie Howe is desperate to bolster his centre-back options and Burn has emerged as their primary target in that area this month.

The Seagulls are in no rush to sell a player who has been in sparkling form this season, particularly in the last month alongside Adam Webster.

But with Burn turning 30 in May and having only 18 months left on his contract, they would be open to letting him go provided the price is right.

That is understood to be between the £12-15m mark and it is now down to the Magpies as to whether they want to pay up before the transfer window closes on Monday.

Burn is a boyhood Newcastle fan, having been born in Northumberland town Blythe, and idolised Alan Shearer as a kid.
