Newcastle and Aston Villa eye shock £17m January transfer for Eden Hazard with Real Madrid giving up on Belgian ace

NEWCASTLE and Aston Villa are reportedly eyeing ex-Premier League top dog Eden Hazard with Real Madrid giving up on the £89million signing.

The Belgian ace, 31, joined Los Blancos from Chelsea for the huge sum back in 2019 but his career in Spain has been blighted by injury.

Hazard was expected to become a mainstay at the Bernabeu but he has ultimately missed 72 games in three-and-a-half seasons.

Despite his absence, Hazard has picked up two LaLiga titles and a Champions League.

However, a return to England could be on the cards, according to El Nacional, who say Real have finally lost faith in Hazard.

The report claims Hazard has told Real and Belgium team-mate Thibaut Courtois that he will be departing this winter.

Newcastle and Villa are reported to be likely escape routes and the two-time Prem winner would likely cost just £17m.

Hazard could boost the Magpies’ top-four chances.

Eddie Howe’s side have made a blistering start to the season and are sitting third in the Prem after 14 games played.

Villa, meanwhile, are down in 13th but now have a Champions League standard manager in Unai Emery at the reigns.

A January departure would be a sorry ending to Hazard’s Real career.

The player vowed to give it his all after their Champions League final win over Liverpool in May.

Hazard told the parade in Madrid the day after the club’s 14th success in the competition: “Madridistas, I’ve been here for three years with many injuries, with many things.

“But next year I’m going to give it all for you.”
