NEWCASTLE are tipped to tie up a £30million deal for Watford striker Joao Pedro after having two earlier bids rejected.
Toon boss Eddie Howe’s transfer priority is back-up for proven hitmen Callum Wilson and Chris Wood.
And the Magpies have reportedly agreed a package worth £25m plus add-ons for Pedro.
The 20-year-old will hope to make as big an impact on Tyneside as fellow uncapped Brazilian Joelinton.
Newcastle have been linked with frontmen Benjamin Sesko, Armando Broja, Sekou Mara and Hugo Ekitike over the summer.
But Howe seems to have focused on Pedro in the past week and finally seems to have been rewarded for his persistence.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano rates it a ‘done deal’.
Pedro’s arrival would be Howe’s fourth capture of the transfer window.
Keeper Nick Pope came in from relegated Burnley after left-back Matt Target joined from Aston Villa and central defender Sven Botman was lured from Lille.
Newcastle are also understood to be rivalling Leeds for Los Angeles FC midfielder Jose Cifuentes.
