Man Utd’s six summer transfers ranked from Paul Scholes-like Christian Eriksen to Old Trafford’s new warrior

MANCHESTER UNITED had a busy summer transfer window and it’s time to rank Erik ten Hag’s six new signings.

The club had a net spend of £200million reportedly going over budget.

The Red Devils have recently developed a reputation for overspending on transfers but some of the new additions are potential bargains.

Man Utd fan and writer Tom McDermott has ranked the new players with a new fan’s favourite coming out on top.

Christian Eriksen

What a footballer. Eriksen and Manchester United fit together perfectly. He is flourishing in a deeper role and the Danish international can spot passes Paul Scholes would be proud of.

We saw evidence of him at his unselfish best when he set up Marcus Rashford for his second and United’s third in the 3-1 win against Arsenal playing an-inch perfect through ball.

It will be interesting to see when and how often he is rested with a busy schedule of games on the way.

Lisandro Martinez

The centre-back was written-off by so many after his first couple of games but Martinez responded in typical style and went on to win United’s August player of the month award.

Don’t be fooled by the pundits because aerially the stats will tell you that the Argentinian isn’t as bad as some might have you believe, despite his height. He is the new warrior of Old Trafford.

Tyrell Malacia

Malacia, who made 136 appearances for Feyenoord, was the first new arrival of Ten Hag’s tenure.

Arguably he was the one we all knew the least about but he’s already overtaken Luke Shaw as United’s first choice left-back.

His quality at both ends of the pitch has seen him leave his mark already on the likes of Mohamed Salah and Bukayo Saka.

Antony

£85million felt expensive at the time, it still does, but if he plays with the same mentality and in the entertaining way he did on his debut you won’t hear many moan about the fee.

If he keeps scoring he will soon be adored by the Man Utd fans plus he gets fan’s off their seats with his skill. Antony is the kind of wide player United fans love to have in the team.

Casemiro

The Brazilian international has won the lot at club level but is still finding his feet at Old Trafford.

The former Real Madrid man’s experience and composure in the middle of the park is something United have been needing for years.

Eventually he will form an impressive spine of the team sat in front of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.

Martin Dubravka

The unknown quantity but given what we’ve seen from the other additions, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him play and play well when handed the opportunity.
