Man Utd ‘start manager recruitment process and set to begin talks with candidates after finalising shortlist’

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly ‘started the process’ to appoint their new permanent manager.

Ralf Rangnick is currently the interim boss, but is expected to take up a planned two-year consultancy role at the end of the season.

And according to The Athletic, United have officially begun the search to find a permanent boss.

It is reported that ‘a shortlist of candidates is thought to have been finalised and efforts are being made to arrange preliminary conversations’.

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax chief Erik ten Hag are ‘among the options’ for the top job at Old Trafford.

United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November, with the Red Devils languishing down in seventh.

But Rangnick, despite some early bumps, has got the side well on track for a top-four finish.

Their latest 4-2 victory away at fierce rivals Leeds leaves United on 46 points in fourth, four ahead of West Ham.

Roy Keane said on Sky Sports: “I think United will be fine for fourth, I really do.

“There’s been lots of noises about players wanting to leave, contract situations with Pogba and Jesse Lingard, and people like that.

“Focus on the next few months, big few months for Man United, try and get fourth.
